Washington DC, has never been friendly to the 2nd amendment. Ths year it is testing the limits of the recent US Supreme Court decision affirming the 2nd amendment as an individual, fundamental right.This article in the Washington Times outlines a law that will require registered gun owners to re-register both themselves and their firearms. Gun rights advocates have long warned of confiscation. Since I was a child, this has been part of the resistance to any sort of background check or registration, because once registered, it is a simple matter to arrest and confiscate.

At minimum, this story should give those who value their 2nd amendment rights pause. Before the Heller US Supreme Court decision, nothing like this was attempted. One would think that given that decision, and others, the climate should be even more hostile to such gun laws.

All eyes on DC, as this plays out.
